‍How BIG came to be. Since its founding in 2009, Bayan Academy - BIG’s sister foundation - has been working to uplift the lives of Filipinos through the development, growth, and evolution of enterprises. It has been at the forefront of Philippine social entrepreneurship research and education.

Bayan’s strategic approach in working with communities, schools, government, and non-government organizations is heavily anchored on four pillars: intellectual capital development, human capital development, social capital development, and community capital development.

Its founder, Dr. Eduardo Morato, Jr., always emphasized the importance of intellectual capital development in effectively pushing the rest of our strategic pillars. To deliver the intended outcomes, he saw to it that the organization’s interventions were founded on facts, evidence, and relevant real-life experiences.

Thus, in 2022, the Consultancy and Research unit of Bayan Academy was spun off into an independent organization and Bayan Innovation Group (BIG) was born. BIG now leads all intellectual capital development initiatives of the Bayan Family of Foundations.
